A musty smell, spots on the wall, a leak you are not sure dried out. Onyx inspects for mold and, more important, for the moisture feeding it, and tells you plainly what needs to happen.

An inspection answers three questions: is there mold, how far does it go, and what is keeping it wet. Without the third answer any cleanup is temporary.
Onyx inspects with moisture meters and thermal imaging, looks behind the obvious spots, and gives you a written scope with photos you can use with a landlord, a buyer or your insurer.
What a mold inspection covers
- Visible growth, staining and water damage on walls, ceilings, floors and framing
- Moisture readings in affected and nearby materials
- Thermal imaging to find wet areas behind finished surfaces
- The moisture source: plumbing, roof, foundation, condensation, ventilation
- Hidden growth behind baseboard, under flooring, in wall cavities and HVAC paths
- A written scope with photos
Mold inspection vs mold testing
Inspection finds mold and its cause. Testing sends air or surface samples to a lab. Testing is useful when you smell mold but cannot see it, when a landlord, buyer or doctor asks for a lab result, or to confirm clearance after remediation. When growth is visible, testing usually is not needed to decide on removal.
When to get a mold inspection
- A musty smell that does not go away
- After a leak, flood or sewage backup, even if it looks dry
- Before buying or renting a basement unit
- Recurring spots in a bathroom, closet or basement
- Allergy or breathing symptoms that ease when you leave the house
If we find mold

FAQ
Questions we get on this work
Who do I call for a mold inspection?
A company that inspects for moisture as well as mold, because moisture is the cause. Onyx's IICRC-certified crew inspects with meters and thermal imaging. Call (267) 353-7953.
Do I need mold testing or just an inspection?
If you can see mold, an inspection is usually enough to plan removal. Testing makes sense when you smell mold but cannot find it, or when someone needs a lab result.
How much does a mold inspection cost?
Call us for the current price and what it includes. Estimates for remediation are free.
Can I stay in the house during a mold inspection?
